February 26. Moses spoke as a parent and a teacher. “Living the spirit of ubuntu as a family value can be hard. Is ubuntu like mercy, a right, a responsibility, a duty born of love, something we learn from the example of God?  We parents and teachers struggle with discipline and finding suitable punishments these days for our children. Teaching self-discipline is important and enforcing discipline, teaching moral values and right behaviour are also rights and a responsibilities, that I don’t think we, parents, are always well enough equipped for.  Maybe we should rerun that parenting course or promote the Stations of the Cross for Families this Lent. Faith sharing in families is also an valuable and important activity.  

Reflect, share, Scripture:  O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and merciful love with those who love him and keep his commandment, we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from You. We have not listened to your servants the prophets. Read Dan 9:4-10.   Pope Francis: It is essential to help children realise misbehaviour has consequences.  It is important that discipline not lead to discouragement to be instead a stimulus to further progress. AL 268-270.    Pray one of the Lenten prayers.:: for our own families across the generations that the love in our homes will be the foundation on which to build our futures.  Choose appropriate action.  LSAP goal 6.
