October 26.  The Barnes family had decided in the course of the year to spend regular family sharing time.  At first it had felt a bit strange for them all to be open enough to bring up their issues and be willing to listen to one another.   A discussion about TV, computers, celphones and social media became quite a hard one when both parents and grandma expressed concern while the kids pooh-poohed their concerns. They agreed to continue to discuss this subject from time to time and share on any dangers or threats they might come across. When Jason mentioned all this to his friend Obed his friend was very impressed that Jason’s family would hold such a discussion.  “We never really talk seriously together,” Obed said.

Scripture:  Children obey your parents in the Lord. Fathers do not provoke your children to anger but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.   Eph 6:1-9.  Pope Francis:   Parents always influence the moral development of their children, for better or for worse.   It follows that they should take up this essential role and carry it out consciously, enthusiastically, reasonably and appropriately. True wisdom as the fruit of self-examination, dialogue and generous encounter between person is not acquired by a mere accumulation of data which eventually leads to overload and confusion a sort of mental pollution.  LS47
