October 15.   During this mission month the subject of honesty, integrity and truth was really being teased out in some of the families especially where there were university students. They were firstly concerned about fees and their own needs but gradually came to understand the bigger picture too. Society has many needs that have to be prioritised for the common good of all.  That happens on a small scale at home, at school, in the workplace but also at regional and international level. The mission of the Church is to be true to the mission of Christ who is its head.

Scripture:  I remember you in my prayers that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your heart enlightened.  Eph 1:15-23. Pope Francis: The common good is the sum of those conditions of social life which allow social groups and their individual members relatively thorough and ready access to their own fulfilment.  Underlying this principle is respect for the human person, the overall welfare of society and the development of a variety of intermediate groups. Outstanding among those groups is the family as the basic cell of society. LS 156-157
