April 7.  Glory. If I glorify myself my glory is nothing.   Grandmother Josie took her turn and said, “I would like us to go back to what Jesus himself is saying in all these readings around this time from John’s gospel, chapter 8.  He continually disputes with the Jewish leaders about God,  his  relationship with his Father, his work of glorifying God and how God glorifies him. All this was one of the main reasons for his conflict with them as they believed this was blasphemy.   Could they understand this term and concept, and how do we understand it in our more scientific age? I find this kind of language very difficult too. Do we or should we give glory to celebrities?  Self-glorification doesn’t seem like humility. What do you think?
