July 30.  The BBTclub members were having a general discussion.  “More and more young people seem to be moving into towns to look for ways to make a living.”  “I wish to more of them would be interested in taking up farming, for the sake of producing food but also for the joy of being close to nature and at the same time close to God.”  “But farming is hard these days because of the changing climate patterns.” “My son who is studying agriculture often tells me about new and innovative ways to deal with climate change.”  Anna finally concluded, “People still have to eat, don’t they?”

The Lord said to Moses, “Say to the sons of Israel, ‘When you come into the land, which I give you and reap its harvest, you shall bring the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest and he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, that you may find acceptance.’ From Lev 23

Pope Francis:  The created things of this word are not free of ownership.  “For they are yours, O Lord, who love the living.”  This is the basis of our conviction that as part of the universe called into being by one Father, all of us are linked by unseen bonds and together form a kind of universal family, which fills us with a sacred, affectionate and humble respect. LS 89
