March 2.  Doris continued, “We’ve listened to so many government ministers going on about keeping safe and not breaking the rules about masks and alcohol, etc.  that it really can make one fed up. But when I heard about those matrics, who knew they had tested positive for COVID-19 and still chose to go to the RAGE post-matric party, one thinks a bit differently about obedience and taking responsibility.  Maybe we don’t think enough about God’s role and justice for everyone in this Covid-19 situation. Like asking ‘WWJD?   What would Jesus do?’”

From THE LITTLE FLOWERS OF ST FRANCIS.  The story of Francis and Brother Bernard continues. Having punished Francis, Bernard then wanted Francis to correct him too every time he displayed a fault. This worried Francis, who for a time avoided his friend, so he wouldn’t have to pick on his faults

Scripture: If you are willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land, but if you refuse and rebel you shall be devoured by the sword, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken. Isaiah 1:10-20

Pope Francis: Freedom is something magnificent yet it can also be dissipated and lost. Moral education has to do with cultivating freedom through ideas, incentives, practical applications, rewards, examples and more. AL 267.

Reflect, share, act, pray. Do we sometimes become too scrupulous in our relationship with God or others, going out of our way to look for faults?  Who hasn’t seen their dog or cat hiding in shame because they know they have been naughty? We can acknowledge shame and make them feel better.
