Pray St Francis Peace Prayer especially keeping grandparens in mind.

Peace Prayer of St Francis 

Lord make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love, where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith, where there is despair, hope, where there is darkness, light, were there is sadness joy.

O Divine master grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console
To be understood, as to understand, to be loved. as to love
For it’s in giving that we receive, and it’s in pardoning that we are pardoned
And it’s in dying that we are born to eternal life.   Amen.

July 20. SEE.  A Christian social worker had been invited to address the elderly luncheon club.  After her presentation she asked,  “What words of advice would you want to give to your grandchildren, or any young people for that matter?   Everyone has a chance to share. Speak to your neighbor. ” “Be honest.” “Keep promises.” “Be kind.” “Don’t’ be selfish. “Be generous”  “Never forget your granny.”   Mama Maisie shared her favourite words from the book of Micah 6:8.  She said, “I have them written not just on my facebook wall but also on my heart. ‘These 3 things I ask from you,  act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with your God.’”    

JUDGE. Reflect and share. Scripture.  He has showed you, O man what is good, and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?” Pope Francis: It is one thing to feel forced to live together, but something entirely different to value the richness and beauty of those seeds of common life that need to be sought out and cultivated.  How wonderful it would be, even as we discover faraway planets, to rediscover the needs of the brothers and sisters who orbit around us. Saint Augustine wrote: “There is no one who shuns the desire for peace, yet not everyone is willing to practice justice… But perform the works of justice, keeping in mind that justice and peace have embraced; they are not at odds with one another. Why do you set yourself against justice? Here, for example, is justice telling you not to steal, but you pay no heed; not to commit adultery, and you turn a deaf ear; not to do to others what you would not want done to yourself; not to say about your neighbor the things you would not want said about yourself… Do you therefore wish to attain peace? Then practice justice.  Let us never grow weary of seeking justice!   MH215.

To make the message of Micah one’s own.   Pray the Prayer of St Francis for grandparents and the elderly.  We pray for God’s blessing on the grandparents and elderly of our families and community,  bless them with peace and contentment and an acceptance that their lives were well spent in your service. We ask St Joachim and St Anne, the grandparents of Jesus, to pray with us.
