6 January. The 12th Day of Christmas. The feast of the Epiphany, Final ending of the Jubilee Year.  SEE.  At this time of the year with new beginnings when one registers for school or sends a CV to apply for a job it is important to state clearly who one is, where one comes from, was born, went to school etc.   Is this just for security reasons, to weed out potential trouble-makers or is there real value in knowing one’s identity and appreciating where one comes from?  Does belonging to a particularly nation, race or culture still matter to the younger generation?   Share thoughts and feelings with one another. 

JUDGE, reflect and share:  Scripture: When he started to teach Jesus was about thirty years old, being  the son, as it was thought, of Joseph, son of Heli, son of Melea etc.  Luke 3:23.  Pope Francis:  Only the Creator fully knows the child; he alone knows his or her deepest identity and worth. AL 169.  Children, once born, begin to receive along with nourishment and care the spiritual gift of knowing with certainty that they are loved.   This is shown through the gift of their personal name, the sharing of language, looks of love and the brightness of a smile.  AL 172.
