July 22nd.  St Mary Magdalen. “My granddaughter chose Mary Magdalen for her confirmation patron.  It seemed a bit odd, but I did ask her why.   You know what she said?  ‘There are so many people out there, good and bad ones.  Mary Magdalen may have been a prostitute.   We don’t know why, but she, more than the others, was open to hearing Jesus’ message and became one of his closest friends, even being one of the first to witness Jesus’ Resurrection. I always want to be open to hearing Jesus’ message, no matter what happens to me in future,’ she said. 

Scripture:   Jesus explained, “ The seed that was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it and bears fruit.  Matt 13:18-23.  Pope Francis.. Christ has taken unto himself this material world and now is intimately present to each being, surrounding it with his affection and penetrating it with his light.  May the power and the light of the grace we have received be evident in our relationship to other creatures and the world around us.   LS 221.            JUBILEE: All our actions need to be put under the “political rule” of the heart. In this way, our aggressiveness and obsessive desires will find rest in the greater good that the heart proposes and in the power of the heart to resist evil. DN 13. Act and pray to St Mary Magdalen today for the needs of families, especially grandparents and the elderly.
