April 25.  St Mark. Evangelist. In her sodality Portia shared some insight she had learned from her own mother.  “Every year the Church’s has a stronger focus on one of the gospels. 2024 is the year of Mark, a disciple of Paul and of Peter and believed to be the earliest gospel-writer. Also of interest according to tradition Mark brought the Church to Africa. Each gospel ends with a call to go out and preach the gospel everywhere. I believe that not everyone of us is called to go out into all the world, and many of us are called to stay at home and build a little church, a little kingdom too.  And that’s not just for stay-at-home mothers.  All of us women and men in our families, sodalities, workplaces, schools, and even the gym can be spreading the gospel.“  “Priscilla said, “I do agree and for me that is almost like speaking a new tongue as Jesus said, taking the words of the gospel for today.”        

Reflect, share, pray. Scripture:   Jesus said to them,” Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to the whole of creation.   These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons, they will speak in new tongues, they will lay their hands on the sick and they will recover. Mark 16:15-20;    Pope Francis: Labour makes possible the development of society and provides for the sustenance, stability and fruitfulness of one’s family. ‘May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. May you see your children’s children.’ Ps 128.   AL 24.
