3 January. Most Holy Name of Jesus. SEE: Bruce always felt a bit awkward talking about religion at home. Most of the immediate and wider family were Catholic, some had converted and others had dropped out or felt more at home in another faith community. Bruce had never converted but he found he could relate very much to Pope Leo’s message of Peace and acceptance of “all God’s children.” He said to himself, “I wish we could begin to share our personal beliefs with one another, and feel accepted for who we are, here in our own home. We could even do this faith sharing from time to time and learn more from each other too.” Does God really live in our home, the little one wanted to know, or does he just live in that place down the road where we go to say a hello? …..…………………
JUDGE reflect and share:Scripture: At the name of Jesus, every knee should bend, those in heaven and on earth and under the earth. Every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Phil 2:10. If you know that God is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who does right is born of him. 1 John 2:29-34 Pope Francis: We can always call on the name of Jesus and repeat this simple prayer: ‘Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on me, a sinner!’ It’s a beautiful prayer, a prayer of hope, because I am turning to him who can open the doors and solve my problems, and make me see the horizon of hope. Pope Leo: The Good Shepherd, who gives his life for the flock and has other sheep not of this fold (cf. Jn 10:11,16), is Christ, our peace, who has conquered death and broken down the walls of division that separate humanity (cf. Eph 2:14). His presence, his gift and his victory continue to shine through the perseverance of many witnesses through whom God’s work carries on in the world, becoming even more visible and radiant in the darkness of our times. MESSAGE OF PEACE
