June 7.  Sacred Heart.   In apparitions to St Margaret Mary Alacoque Jesus showed her the depth of his love and begged her to promote greater love of him in the particular form of the Sacred Heart.  This has become a very well-known image – an earlier version of the Divine Mercy.   Consecrating a home, going to Mass and receiving communion on 9 consecutive 1st Fridays of the month were some of the requests for which in return Jesus promised his own greater love and support. “I promise you in the excessive mercy of my Heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who hold to this devotion the grace of final penitence.   They will not die in my disgrace, nor without receiving the Sacraments.   My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.”  www.sacredheartdevotion.com.    A number of religious congregations, schools and the popular Sacred Heart sodality also have Jesus and this image s as their patron.
