When you are driving through the traffic in any city the lawlessness of drivers is frightening.  In SA it isn’t only taxis that disobey traffic laws all the time, but they are undoubtedly the worst.”  “The lawlessness is certainly a clear sign of the times.  But occasionally one does see a good Samaritan who will help another motorist who is stranded. So often too there is a sense of order in the way drivers naturally accommodate one another in negotiating the daily rush to and from work. We need to look for all those signs.”
