See today’s ecotip and prayer. . September 2.  Bruce shared in his family group, “when I was young I used to be quite confused about the two different creation stories in Genesis until our catechist explained that they came from different writers at different times. The writers were reflecting on the message and its meaning. Whether the world was made in 6 days or over a long period of time, and whether human beings were created first or later doesn’t affect the message.  God is the Creator, he created everything that exists and God created out of love and for love, his and that of others. Everything from the sun, the moon and the stars to water, air and land and every creature, large and small, that God created has its place in the universe.  Human beings hold a unique and special place in creation because we are made in God’s own image and likeness.  This is both as individual man and woman and together, as an image of the Trinity, a relationship of love that mirrors the Trinity.  The Church continues to reflect too, alongside us as couples, as we grow in our understanding of the deeper meaning of marriage.

The Lord’s is the earth and its fullness, the world, and all who dwell in it. It is he who set it on the seas; on the waters he made it firm.  PS 24.

Pope Francis:  We were conceived in the heart of God and for this reason each of us is the result of a thought of God.  Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary.  LS65 The creation accounts contain in symbolic and narrative langue profound teaching about human existence and its historical reality. Human life is grounded in three fundamental intertwined relationships: with God, with our neighbour and with the earth.  LS 66. The human person grows more, matures more and is sanctified more to the extent that he or she enters into relationships. LS240
