November 21. Jesus’ Concern. Pilgrimages to the Holy Land have been popular for many centuries. Nowadays Jerusalem doesn’t look like it did in Jesus’ time as it was already partly destroyed by the Romans only 30 years after his death. It was captured and fought over in very many wars over the centuries. Would Jesus not still weep over Jerusalem today and the fate of its children? How many other cities in the world would he weep over? Would he weep over ours and our children’s lives? Right now cities are being attacked in many places through wars and climate change. Can’t our concern for our children lead us to take the right action?
Reflect, share, act. Scripture: Jesus wept over Jerusalem saying, The days are coming when your enemies will hem you in on every side and dash you to the ground, you and your children within you because you did not know the time of your visitation. Luke 19:41-44. Pope Francis: From the first moments of their lives, many children are rejected, abandoned and robbed of their childhood and future. This is shameful! AL166. Eco tip and prayer, Creator God in this month of commemoration of loss and death comfort us in our pain and strengthen us in our understanding that you never abandon us and care for each of your creatures day by day. MARFAM’S new Advent booklet features a CHILDREN’S PEACE PILGRIMAGE.
