October 15. Hypocrisy.  “Putting your money where your mouth is” was the topic of the J&P talk to the youth.  “How hypocritical are we?” the speaker asked. “Do we say we can for the environment but don’t save on electricity by switching off lights and cutting cellphone time, use of air-conditioning and changing our whole mindset.” “When we come to meals, we must purify our hearts as well as our hands if we are to share food & wisdom well. God knows our inner thoughts and almsgiving  should not be just for show.”

Reflect, share, act. Scripture:  You Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are full of extortion and wickedness.   Give for alms those things which are within, and behold everything is clean for you.  Luke 11: 37-41.  Pope Francis:  People may well have a growing ecological sensitivity but it has not succeeded in changing their harmful habits of consumption which appear to be growing. A simple example is the increasing use and power of air-conditioning stimulated by sales and the market. LS 55 Action and Prayer.  Do I put my money where my mouth is? Pray: Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in us the fire of your love, so that walking together we may renew the face of the earth.
