October 23.  Security.   The community reflected and shared,  “We are certainly living in violent times in our day.  How many security features are needed to even make us feel a little bit safer behind high walls with guards and panic buttons at the ready?  How much impact does that have on our quality of life too?”  “Are we afraid to open our windows and doors and so become isolated and distrustful of others?”  “Well I don’t worry too much, but my children tell me I should protect myself and my belongings more.”  “Ultimately what will we be held accountable for? Who can be blamed or punished for breaches of security?”

Luke 12:39-48.  Pope Francis: .    Civic life, structured around an organised community, needs rules of coexistence, the wilful violation of which demands appropriate redress.  This means that legitimate public authority can and must inflict punishment according to the serious of the crimes.
