PPC m’ embers reflected, shared and discussed. “Do you ever feel that there is too much to achieve and not enough time?” “I’m sure we all do, but what is really important?“ “I feel I have neglected my family because I feel so committed to my church work and that worries me. ” Jesus knew that his time was limited and that his teaching, even of the fire of love, would cause division, even within families. Sadly still today the Christian fire, joy and enthusiasm of some can be disliked by others. “How then are we still called to follow our calling and use our gifts?”

Reflect, share, act. Scripture Jesus said, “I came to cast fire upon the earth and would that it were already kindled. Do you think I have come to give peace on earth? No I tell you, but rather division. Luke 12:49-53.  Pope Francis:  at one extreme we find those who doggedly uphold the myths of progress and tell us that ecological problems will solve themselves with the application of new technology and without any ethical considerations or deep change. At the other extreme are those who view men and women and all their interventions as no more than a threat, jeopardizing the global ecosystem and consequently the presence of human beings should be reduced.  Viable future scenarios will have to be generated between these extremes.   LS 60.    Regrettably many efforts to seek concrete solutions to the environmental crisis have proved ineffective not only because of powerful opposition but also because of a more general lack of interest. EG 14. Pray: Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in us the fire of your love, so that walking together we may renew the face of the earth.
