November 4. Joyce and Pat had both grown up in poor families who had struggled for survival. Education was a great value, but the education in positive values taught at home was equally important. “Even though we are not poor now, so much of what we were taught through poverty is still very valuable. Our children know our doors are always open to those in need.”
Reflect, share, act. Scripture: When you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just. Luke 14:12-14 Pope Francis: The new evangelisation is an invitation to acknowledge the saving power at work in the lives of the poor and to put them at the centre of the Church’s pilgrim way. We are called to find Christ in them, to lend our voice to their causes but also to be their friends to listen to them, to speak for them and to embrace the mysterious wisdom which God wishes to share with us through them. EG 198. Eco-tip and prayer: Creator God in this month of commemoration of loss and death and of the poor comfort us in our pain and strengthen us in our understanding that you never abandon us and care for each of your creatures day by day.
