July 22. St Mary Magdalen. Magdalen Patensie loved her special feastday and had great devotion to her name saint.  When she invited some friends for tea she asked them, “What words of advice would you give to your grandchildren, or any young people for that matter?  Let everyone have a chance to share.”   They said, “Be honest.” “Keep promises.” “Be kind.” “Don’t’ be selfish…………..“    Finally Magdalen concluded, “My own favourite is the one in the reading from the book of Micah for today, not even her feastday. have it written not just on my facebook wall but also on my heart. 

Reflect, share, scripture: These 3 things I ask of you.   Act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8.   Pope Francis: God goes beyond justice with his mercy and forgiveness. Love is the foundation of true justice. MV 21.  Someone is assaulted on our streets and many hurry off as if they did not notice.  People hit someone with their car and then flee the scene.  Their only desire is to avoid problems; it does not matter that through their fault another person could die.  These are signs of an approach to life that is spreading. We are caught up with our own needs, the sign of an unhealthy society, a person who is suffering disturbs us, we have no time to waste on other people’s problems.  FT 65.  ACTION AND PRAYER. Reflect on the parable of the Good Samaritan and the reading from Micah and St Mary Magdalen.
