June 14.  Sunday 11A. SEE.  Fr Fidelis  preached especially to the youth, as so many of them seemed to see Confirmation as a church-leaving certificate.  “Have you had a genuine encounter with Jesus as Pope Francis so often spoke about?   Have you experienced his love, his healing and his comfort in times of difficulty?  Are you afraid to stand up and be counted because of something in your life?  But most of all have you invited Jesus to be your friend?” Many of the confirmation group from three years earlier had remained close and Pauline reflected how that had helped her a lot in the tough years of finishing school and moving into the adult world.  “They, even more than my parents in some ways were my spiritual counsellors.”

JUDGE. Reflect, share,  Scripture: If you will obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my own possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine.   Ex 19:2-6    Pope Francis:  In some young people we can see a desire for God, albeit still vague and far from knowledge of the God of revelation.  In others we glimpse an ideal of human fraternity, Many have a desire to develop their talents in order to offer something to our world.   In this we can find real starting points open to a word of incentive, wisdom and encouragement.CV 84.  Pope Leo:  Pope Leo in Equatorial Guinea 22 April 2026.  “Dear young people, parents and all who are present, let us be inspired by the beauty of love; let us become witnesses to the love that Jesus has left us and taught us! The light of charity, nurtured in our homes and lived out in faith, can truly transform the world.”   

ACT AND PRAY.  On this Sunday nearest to Youth Day pray for the youth of today and consider too where the youth of 1976 are today.  Are they the parents or grandparents of today’s youth who are living in the different world of AI?
