July 5.   Dreams.  Some of the elderly women and men had dreamt dreams over the years and these were considered important in their culture, although they could not always find a way to interpret them.  Are they messages from ancestors, from God or some special intercessor?  We also have waking dreams when we think and hope about the future. The group asked Fr Vincent to share his understanding with them about the whole issue of dreams in the Bible and in their lives. 

Jacob dreamed that there was a ladder set up on the earth and the top of it reached to heaven and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.  And the Lord stood above it and said, “I am the Lord the God of Abraham and Isaac. I am with you and will keep you wherever you go and will bring you back to this land.  Read the whole story in Genesis 28.  

Pope Francis. Knowing and judging past events is the only way to build a meaningful future.  Memory is necessary for growth. AL 193.   How important it is to dream together.  By ourselves, we risk seeing mirages, things that are not there.  Dreams are built together.  Let us dream as a single human family, as fellow travelers sharing the same flesh, as children of the same earth which is our common home.  FT 8
