7 January. Faith, Hope, Love.JOY. SEE: “We receive what we ask, we receive what we ask, we receive what we ask,” she kept repeating to herself. ”Lord, I do believe and I do love this son of mine, even though sometimes I feel as if I hate him and what he does. But how can I get him off the drugs? What must I do, or do I just leave it up to you? Oh Lord have mercy and please increase my faith and bring me joy”
JUDGE, reflect and share: Scripture: We receive from God whatever we ask because we keep his commandments that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus and love one another. By this we know that he abides in us by the Spirit which he has given us.1 John 3:22 -4-6. All of us, however, need to recover the joy of living, since men and women, created in the image and likeness of God (cf. Gen 1:26), cannot rest content with getting along one day at a time, settling for the here and now and seeking fulfilment in material realities alone. SNC9 Pope Leo: Faith, hope, and love are interconnected; faith isn’t just belief but action, especially love for the poor; hope isn’t escapism but perseverance in love, finding new life in suffering; and love, the greatest virtue, means freely giving oneself, building fraternity, and being God’s instrument of salvation, countering worldliness with Gospel values like mercy, dialogue, and service. He calls for a courageous choice to love daily, even amidst darkness, trusting God’s caring love.
ACT: Decide on possible appropriate action towards faith in action through love and care for the needy. Conclude with prayer
