May 19. When his daughter started bringing black friends home from school Jonathan realised he had to examine his own views and values quite seriously.  “It’s Ok for little kids to play together” he thought but when our white teenagers start mixing with black guys and girls it is more serious. He decided to share with some of his friends.  Gideon agreed, but shared that as a black Zimbabwean living in South Africa there were other black-on-black issues too.  “Xenophobia can flare up at any time, and that issue of social relations is one of my great concerns. Our kids do also still experience that. We do need more sharing groups on this.”

The natural environment has been gravely damaged by our irresponsible behaviour. The social environment has also suffered damage.  These are due to the same evil, the notion that there are no indisputable truths to guide our lives and human freedom is limitless.  LS 6. When we live out a spirituality of drawing nearer to others and seeking their welfare, our hearts are opened wide to the Lord’s greatest and most beautiful gifts.  When we encounter another person in love we learn something new about God.
