July 18th. The members of the elderly luncheon club discussed, “It’s Mandela day today. What words of advice would he and you want to give to your grandchildren, or any young people for that matter?  Everyone has a chance to share.” “Be honest.” “Keep promises.” “Be kind.” “Don’t’ be selfish………….. “  Mama Maisie shared her favourite from the book of Micah 6:8.  I have them written not just on my wall but also on my heart.

Scripture:    ”These 3 things I ask of you.   Act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with your God.”  Pope Francis:  God goes beyond justice with his mercy and forgiveness. Love is the foundation of true justice. FM21.  It is one thing to feel forced to live together, but something entirely different to value the richness and beauty of those seeds of common life that need to be sought out and cultivated.  How wonderful it would be, even as we discover faraway planets, to rediscover the needs of the brothers and sisters who orbit around us.
