Traditions, whether religious, tribal or family, play an important role in society giving people a sense of their identity. However, today some traditions are frowned upon as maybe being sexist, racist or anti one religion or another. If they discriminate in some way they can even be hurtful to some. Purification can be seen to be discriminatory to women. “In the interest of being fully loving should families not have a choice in what traditions they will keep?” was a question posed for reflection in the prayer group.
