November 23.  Vincent continued explaining that Daniel, considered the wisest man in the kingdom, as part of God’s plan interpreted a dream of King Nebuchadnezzar that did end up in favour of the Jewish people. The king had dreamt of a series of kingdoms destroying one after the other, with his being the mightiest.  Daniel interpreted it further, that finally “the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall its sovereignty be left to another people.  It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end.  Daniel 2.  We know about the Crusades fought by Christians against Islam in the Middle Ages. Other religious wars and conflicts have continued, sometimes over land, or a loss of freedom.  While recognizing that conflict still continues across the world Pope Francis has made a strong call for what he calls Fraternity and Social Friendship for all.  A Declaration signed by himself and Grand Imam Ahmad Al-Tayyeb includes, In the name of peoples who have lost their security, peace and the possibility of living together, becoming victims of destruction, calamity and war; In the name of this fraternity torn apart by policies of extremism and division and systems of unrestrained profit: in the name of freedom, that God has given to all human beings, creating them free and so setting them apart; in the name of persons of goodwill present in every part of the word; In the name of God we declare the adoption of a culture of dialogue as a path; mutual cooperation as the code of conduct; reciprocal understanding as the method and standard.  LS 285
