THOUGHTS will be posted daily to MARFAM various contacts and groups.  Extracts from the SACBC Season of Creation reflections as well as from www.seasonofcreation.org  are included.   SOC guidelines and information notices can be downloaded for free and many other resources are free from www.laudatosimovement.org and www.laudatosiactionplatform.org.   Season of Creation is also one of some possible interdenominational initiatives for us to network with other Christian churches. The liturgy for the newly approved Mass of Creation is being distributed by the SACBC and posted on their website www.sacbc.org.za        

MARFAM’S project of BECOMING ECO-FRIENDLY FAMILIES does not end with the Season of Creation but is ongoing in promoting CARE FOR CREATION.  We are a partner with the LAUDATO SI’ ACTION PLATFORM and also hope to participate in the 5th anniversary gathering in Rome if possible and finances allow.   We would be grateful for any donations towards this and all MARFAM’s programmes.    

GENERAL NOTICES

  • The Year of St Francis is remembered in a small way through a daily prayer as part of the Thoughts for the Day.
  • RADIO VERITAS FAMILY MATTERS.  Did you know that a weekly radio programme is presented by me, always making reference to the current monthly theme from the FAMILY YEAR PLANNER.   August was on SEXUALITY A FAMILY GIFT.  September will be on SEASON OF CREATION. 
  • NOTE:  I was asked if there is an official date for a regional marriage celebration.   1st Sunday in Octbober has been used in some dioceses but it had been linked with the 3 yearly marriage season during the year of Mark weeks 21-27.
  • MARFAM is a partner of the LAUDATO SI ACTION PLATFORM – family sector.  Resources are exchanged  and regular contact is maintained.  The Laudato Si’ Movement SA Chapter is a contact for the LS Movement and the LSAP Action Platform.   Contact Toni for more information.   
  • Note on AMORIS LAETITIA.   Pope Leo has highlighted the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ document which will be discussed and used by bishops in October at a special meeting. For your information MARFAM has a number of magazine articles on this, also workshop notes, and a journal article from 2017 in INTAMS REVIEW.
