Limitations and service.   Life was hard for Petru as a single Mom and she had never had a stable relationship since her teen years when she had become addicted to alcohol.   Her daughter had been born with fetal alcohol syndrome.   Rayhab, the appointed social worker, shared her concern about a number of such cases that she had to deal with because they were rejected by their families.  “It is sad that families often don’t understand that a problem for one is a problem for all, so families too need healing as a unit. Little Eden founders Danny and Domittila Hyams are prime examples of caring for the vulnerable in a special way.”

Scripture:   The woman spoke to Jesus, “My son is an epileptic and suffers terribly.  I brought him to your disciples but they could not heal him.”   Jesus rebuked the demon and the boy was cured instantly.   Jesus said to his disciples. “O you of little faith.”    Matt 17:14-20.     Pope Francis:   Service in great part means caring for vulnerability, for the vulnerable members of our families, our society, our people.  In offering their service individuals learn to set aside their own wishes and desires, their pursuit of power, before the concrete gaze of those who are most vulnerable   FT 115.  Pope Leo:  The spirituality I wish to commend is that of the “wise architect” who, driven by hope for the Kingdom of God, is committed to building the world for the common good.  The task of building in our time must place our relationship with God at its center. Our rule must be the acceptance of human limitations as a natural and positive reality, and should be characterized by shared responsibility and a language characterized by the Gospel.
