18 January. Second Sunday Ordinary Time Year A. SEE: Dedication Sunday. On this Sunday, expecting that most people would be back from holidays and starting school and work Fr Sylvester and the PPC had prepared a Parish Dedication ceremony. He told the congregation, “You are all called to be disciples, followers of Christ,” he told them, “so every one can be commissioned to do the work they have to do, parents and children, teachers and catechists, workers out in the world and those who assist in the Church. Let us dedicate ourselves to God and to building up God’s kingdom.” (A Commissioning service and Prayer of Dedication are available from MARFAM)
JUDGE, reflect and share: Scripture: Paul called by God to be an apostle and our brother Sosthenes to those sanctified in Christ Jesus called to be saints together with all those who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours, ‘Grace and peace.’ 1 Cor1 Pope Francis: The Ordinary Jubilee will concluded with the closing of the Holy Door in the Papal Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican on 6 January 2026, the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord. As we continue from being pilgrims of hope to being Apostles of Hope may the light of Christian hope illumine every man and woman, as a message of God’s love addressed to all! And may the Church bear faithful witness to this message in every part of the world! SNC 6. Pope Leo: Through your work, your efforts to change unjust social structures or your simple, heartfelt gesture of closeness and support, the poor will come to realize that Jesus’ words are addressed personally to each of them: “I have loved you” DT121 (Rev 3:9).
ACT: Decide on possible appropriate action as individuals or families and groups. Conclude with prayer
