October 31.    The two parish families decided to end Mission month with a family day and lunch for families from both, St Martin, the suburban and St Therese, the refugee inner-city parish.   Apart from the SVP quite a number of families had met and shared and got to know one another a little better.  Children had met too and the family day would include some soccer matches and other games.  “In this way we can really share and maybe see where the talents lie.”  Mrs Beattie told her PPC.  “We better get our best soccer players to be there!”

Scripture:  When you give a dinner do not invite your friends or brothers, lest they also invite you in return.  But when you give a feast invite the poor, the maimed, and you will be blessed because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.   Luke 14:12-14.   Pope Francis: Those who work for tranquil social coexistence should never forget that inequality and lack of integral human development make peace impossible. When a society is willing to leave a part of itself on the fringes, no political programmes or resources spent on law enforcement can indefinitely guarantee tranquillity.  FT235.  In a true spirit of dialogue we grow in our ability to grasp the significance of what others say and do, even if we cannot accept it as our own conviction.  FT203.
