January 22.  Friendship. David mourned the death of Saul and Jonathan.  In their discussions during a time of faith sharing Mark’s family considered the topic of friendship.  Parents don’t always like the friends their children bring home when they are young and maybe even more so as they get older. Different sexual orientation is a recognised reality these days and it can be a challenge for families to deal with if one of the children admits to this. How would they deal with their child bringing someone from the LGBTI community home?  Becoming an eco-friendly family:  Consider and discuss the issue of prejudice and discrimination in our family?

Read from 2 Samuel 1:27.   David mourned the death of Saul and Jonathan. “I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan. Your love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women. How are the mighty fallen and the weapons of war perished!” Pope Francis: Every person regardless of sexual orientation ought to be respected in his or her dignity and treated with consideration, while every sign of unjust discrimination is to be carefully avoided.
